GP Practice Profiles
Access | Help and data sources | Feedback
GP Practice Profiles bring together a range of outcomes and process information relevant to cancer in primary care. They provide comparative information for benchmarking and reviewing variations at a General Practice level. This initiative supports the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative to improve early diagnosis of cancer and outcomes for cancer patients.
Access to the profiles
Access is currently through either the Cancer Commissioning Toolkit or via Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and the Cancer Network GP Practice Profile / Audit Leads. Anyone accessing these profiles by either route is be required to comply with conditions of access and data sharing. A letter from Professor Sir Mike Richards to PCT Chief Executives sets out the arrangements for access and identifies GP Practice Profile / Audit Leads.
A quick help guide to accessing the profiles from the within the Cancer Commissioning Toolkit and help for those who need to register for access are both available.
In the spirit of the Health White Paper, the vision is for these profiles to be shared publically. However, as this the first time they have been developed we want to test their validity, acceptance and uptake by Primary Care first. Therefore access initially will only be for those within the NHS and Primary Care.

Feedback
This is the first time such an initiative has been undertaken nationally for cancer, and we will welcome comments and suggestions as to how to make future versions and iterations more relevant and useful for those who will use them. Please email profiles@ncin.org.uk with your feedback or questions.
